Canon Medical Unveils Paradigm Shift in Productivity of MR Portfolio

  • Canon Medical today unveiled a major shift in MRI workflow with an intelligent remote tablet and in-room camera solutions for monitoring and positioning patients to maximize workflow on their flagship Vantage Galan 3T and Vantage Orian 1.5T systems
  • New AI technologies have been incorporated to automate scan planning for Liver, Prostate and Whole Spine, and to remove noise from images for SNR improvement and time saving
Canon Medical today unveiled a major revamp to their MR Vantage portfolio at RSNA 2022 - with advanced productivity and AI solutions for automation and image enhancement. The new systems feature a refined new look along with innovative workflow solutions, image enhancement and accelerated scan technology, which together, can contribute to reducing the total time required for MRI procedures.

Productivity combined with intelligent imaging capability
Featuring a unique mobile interface that allows remote monitoring and seamless data integration, and in-room AI driven ceiling camera that automatically checks correct patient position and coil set-up, Canon’s Vantage portfolio have added advanced productivity features to outstanding imaging capability.

“Vantage Galan 3T and Vantage Orian 1.5T are our premium MRI systems that are known for delivering advanced imaging solutions, and we have now added additional AI capability and productivity features that make these systems unique in the MRI space” noted Akira Adachi, General Manager, MRI Systems Division at Canon Medical. “We have closely observed and listened to radiologists and technologists who face the challenges of ever-increasing patient loads, increasingly complex patient and healthcare system needs, and limited or reduced resources. While everyone recognizes the advantages of non-radiation MRI scans, they can take longer and require a more complex workflow than other modalities, so our engineers have been focused on finding solutions that can fully meet today’s demands and ensure that MRI facilities and their patients move more and wait less.”

Advanced AI technology
In line with the recent release of Altivity - Canon’s bold new approach to AI innovation that uses smart technologies, the Vantage portfolio now incorporates machine learning and deep learning technology that enhances image quality by removing noise and restoring SNR, automates many scan procedures, and confirms set-up steps to save time and reduce errors.

All of Canon’s MRI systems now come ready to utilize Advanced intelligent Clear-IQ Engine (AiCE), which leverages deep learning reconstruction (DLR) technology to remove noise and restore SNR to MRI images.

“AiCE is a unique DLR technology for MRI that produces clear and distinct images,” commented Mr. Adachi. “It has already become a comprehensive and essential tool that is globally accepted for general and specialized imaging and integrates seamlessly with motion and metal management techniques. It also enables subtle clinical findings, which can be especially effective for complex procedures.”

In addition, with compressed sensing and parallel imaging accelerated scan technologies, Canon has incorporated solutions to address challenges that occur across the entire MRI diagnostic workflow.

Wider prospects
Canon Medical now offers a comprehensive range of open bore MRI systems to meet every customer need in the 3T and 1.5T MR market segments.

In the USA market, Canon will now offer standard and Superior Performance (SP) packages on the Vantage Galan 3T and Vantage Orian that allow facilities to configure systems with extra capability like AI imaging performance, accelerated scan technologies, Tablet UX and Ceiling Camera as required.

“We continually innovate to meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals and enable them to deliver the best solutions to patients,” said Mr. Adachi. “One of the most valuable contributions that we can provide in today’s challenging healthcare environment is to bring new tools to the table that enhance workflow and productivity.”
